  • Road Work
    Russell Standard will be applying "fog seal" today, July 24 and possibly Friday, July 25 on the following roads:  Turkey Ridge, Gilmar, Evans and Washington Roads, Shady Lane and Raintree Drive.  Temporary delays are possible.
  • Milling and Paving scheduled
    DWEL-MAR DR. and UTOPIA RD. is scheduled for milling and paving starting TUESDAY, JULY 29TH THROUGH SATURDAY, AUGUST 2ND, weather permitting.
    Emergency vehicles will always have access.  In the event that the job scheduled is delayed due to weather, equipment breakdown, etc., anticipate work to begin on the following day.
    Delays are possible.
  • Star Gazing Events
    The Amateur Astronomers hold free public star parties each month between the hours of 8:00 pm – midnight. The next Star Gazing Event of the season will be held at Kunkle Park on Saturday, August 16th . Star Parties are “weather permitting” at various parks throughout the area during the summer months. (We have been very fortunate that the astronomers have chosen Kunkle Park as one of the parks utilized for this event.)

  • Route 66 Road Construction
    PennDOT will be improving a section of S.R. 66 in Washington Township. Scheduled to begin, weather permitting on Monday April 14, with a tentative completion date of October 31, 2014. The work consists of drainage improvements, installing a turning lane at the Kiski Elementary School, clearing and grubbing, milling of the existing pavement surface, resurfacing of the existing pavement, guide rail and other miscellaneous construction.   • MedReturn Drug Collection
    Drop-off boxes for unwanted prescription medications are up and running at the Washington Township Police Department (M-F, 8 am to 3 pm) and other police departments in our area.  Other local participating police departments include Allegheny Township, Arnold, Avonmore, Lower Burrell, Murrysville, New Kensington, Upper Burrell, and Vandergrift.  Residents can bring any outdated or unwanted prescription or over-the-counter pills, inhalers, ointments, creams, sprays and pet medicines.  Medicines should be deposited in sealed bottles, bags or other containers; patient information can be...

  • Road Projects

    General Information for Paving projects :

    Expect 1 hour delay for "through roads". The road will always be open at the end of the day. Emergency vehicles will always have access.  In the event that the job scheduled is delayed due to weather, equipment breakdown, etc., anticipate work to begin on the following day.  The Township Public Works Director, Rick Huffman, will be on site 6:00-6:30 a.m. on paving day and will be available to answer any questions.


  • Senior Softball Team

    Recreational softball players ( guys and girls!) ages 55 and over. The 2014 Season has now begun!!!!  New players are always welcome to the Senior Softball League.  The "Kiski Valley Grays" play their games at Kunkle Park in Washington Township. Last year the league was able to play over 35 games.  Anyone interested in having some fun and exercise for the Spring 2014 Season are encouraged to contact the individuals listed below. Softball games are on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to...

  • Washington Township/Bell Township Lion's Club

    If interested in helping your local community, join the Lion's Club.  For more information please contact John Doyle at 724-727-2518.  Lion's brooms are available at the Municipal Building. 

  • Township Residents Needing Clean Fill

    Please contact the Township if you would like to receive clean fill. The Township has various projects where we will have clean fill that we need to dispose of. If interested, contact us at 724-727-3515 and we can make arrangements with you.

  • Police Department

    Please be aware that the Police Department is on Facebook and Nixle (Nixle.org).  Residents are encouraged to visit these free sites.  If you notice any suspicious activity in your neighborhood, do not hesitate to contact 911. 

  • Washington Township Fire Hall

    The VNA Community Services is offering blood pressure clinics monthly at the Washington Township Fire Hall, 4078 Route 66, Apollo, PA from 11:30 a.m. to noon on the second Wednesday of the month.  Senior Citizens covered dish luncheon will also be held at noon.  Please bring covered dish and table service.

  • Public Works Tree Trimming

    The Township Public Works Department will be starting tree and shrub trimming.  Tree limbs or shrubs, which hang into the right-of-way or are in the area beyond the edges of the road and are less than 14 feet in height, become a hazard and cause damage to buses and trucks, and also intereferes with proper snow removal. 

    The Public Works Department would greatly appreciate if all residents would trim their trees in this area.
